Cupping Therapy has been used since ancient Greek, Roman, and Chinese times for reducing pain, improving range of motion, bronchitis, diagnosis of conditions, nipping common cold, reducing inflammation, and so much more.
Physiologically explained, cupping creates negative pressure that highly vascularizes and oxygenates the tissues where the cups are applied. Fresh blood and oxygen carry nutrients to the tissues and carry away cellular debris and waste by-products. Gliding, aka dynamic or moving, cupping resembles a reverse deep tissue massage.
Our cupping technique leaves little to no "marks".
We use cupping therapy for lymphatic drainage, myofascial release and relieving muscle tension and pain as well as facial rejuvenation. It pairs effectively with acupuncture.
Benefits of cupping include
* increased ROM
* decreased pain and inflammation
* faster recovery from strain/sprain/injury
* myofascial and muscle tension release (for headache, shoulder, back, low back, joint, TMJ, abdominal and pelvic pain)
* common cold relief, when done in the first day of common cold symptoms
* bronchitis relief and decongestion of respiratory fluids (ex. phlegm)
* stress, anxiety reduction (increased blood and oxygen flow relaxes and engages the Parasympathetic Nervous System for restoring and healing)
* lymphatic drainage of the face, breasts, arms, legs and other areas
* cellulite and acne reduction (better blood and oxygen circulation means better skin nourishment, repair and healing)
* immune system boost (our skin is our largest immune system organ).
Therapeutic Massage Cupping
Many of my patients opt for TMC. It is a gliding, soothing procedure that addresses tension and inflammation in shoulders, back, joints and other large surfaces. In my practice, TMC is effectively paired with concurrent distal acupuncture (in arms and legs) or followed by acupuncture to optimize relief and vitality.
How it works: negative pressure (vacuum) pulls rigid or inflamed connective tissues into silicon cups, with increased vascularization and oxygenation of the tissues resulting in tissue relaxation and a sensation of warmth. Cupping breaks up and drains stagnation while increasing blood and lymph flow to skin and muscles in ways not possible using positive pressure aka compression massage. And the vacuum's pulling action engages the parasympathetic nervous system, thus allowing a deep relaxation to move through the entire body.
Therapeutic massage cupping has wide applications including increasing range of motion, reducing pain and inflammation in the shoulders, back, extremities, joints, and abdomen, and reducing cellulite, lymphedema, and scars.
Cupping has recently become popular in spas and among athletes, athletic trainers, personal trainers and massage therapists; also with Olympians including Michael Phelps before and during the 2016 Olympics.
Facial Rejuvenation Cupping
FRC is a very gentle, relaxing, and rejuvenating experience. Patients have called it a "natural botox". The effects require multiple visits.
How it works: gentle suction is created with American-made Bellatazze glass cups. Lines and wrinkles plump and scar tissue soften. Drainage of stagnant lymph fluids reduce swellings and chronic puffiness. Facial muscles benefit greatly from the reduction of tension and tightness, releasing expression lines and loosening rigid muscle tissue. The negative pressure, or suction, relaxes the face and body by engaging the healing, restoring parasympathetic nervous system.
Facial cupping provides significant improvements for symptoms related to sinus infections, inflammation, edema and TMJ disorders. For example, if you have facial lymphatic swellings such as under the jaws, then this is your easy, gentle ticket to effective drainage.
Magnify the beneficial effects of facial cupping by adding acupuncture to strategic arm and leg acupuncture points.
Service Fees:
Cupping only (face OR back side shoulders, back, low back): $80
Add facial rejuvenation cupping: $30
Add acupuncture: $30
Cellulite cupping only: $110
